Mount Athabasca rises dramatically above the vast Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, Canada. Early one freezing morning, Jeff and I set up our tripods in the biting cold air, waiting for the first light to strike the peaks. The scale here is humbling. Towering ice-covered ridges stretch into the distance under the vast Canadian Rockies sky.
As the sun broke through, the clouds lit up in pink cotton candy as the alpenglow swept across Mount Athabasca, chasing away the deep blue shadows and illuminating the crevassed glaciers in spectacular fashion. It was one of those raw, unforgettable mornings where the cold fades into the background and the landscape comes alive.
This photograph captures that epic sunrise moment when the light finally hit Mount Athabasca and the Columbia Icefield. Bring this Canadian Rockies beauty and the feeling of a freezing alpine dawn straight into your space so you can enjoy it all year.
